She drew inspiration, Ryan exclusively revealed to us, from “some men that just play you when you want to say, “I’m not the one.”
Ryan Destiny has been working on her music career since she was a young adolescent, though you may recognise her from Star or Grown-ish. The actress has established herself as a multifaceted force in the business, but before illuminating television, she signed record deals and was a member of a girl group. This New Music Friday, Ryan is back with a new song for your playlist, “How Many,” which she just released.

The song depicts a story that far too many people have experienced: someone you believed would be loyal instead chooses to act a little oddly. Before “How Many” was released, Ryan chatted with us for our upcoming 12 Days of Christmas series and explained the idea for the song.

She exclusively revealed to HNHH, “I worked on this tune with a writer named [Rook Monroe] and a production team titled Trackside. And I filmed this in 2018, which is amazing given how weird the process is.
However, I believe that all we wanted was for things to seem extremely genuine and as though I were narrating a narrative. That, in my opinion, is exactly how it feels.
Ryan said, “Those are some of my greatest—personally, my fave, R&B songs. “When it truly just seems like you’re recounting a recent event that occurred to them. Unfortunately, with a topic like this, it is very relevant [laughs] with a lot of women, which is how I wanted it to feel.
“I wanted to hit on that with a few my personal experiences with certain men and people who sort of just play you when you want to just say, ‘I’m not the one,'” the author said.
