Hip-hop had a successful year in the first full year that the world was free from quarantine limitations.
With all the music they’ve given fans over the past 12 months, artists were charging out of the gate and vying for that top spot.
Excellent albums, successful singles, creative music videos, and more were all released. However, some of the game’s most well-known characters did a good job of capturing one of Hip Hop’s fundamental components.

These rappers came out and flashed the lyrical daggers they’d been honing now that the culture and the rest of the world were back outside. Cardi B went back in time to tell supporters that the bars were still there when J. Cole and Drake demonstrated why they are the top performers in their generation.
However, Lil Wayne was able to hold his own in a song with a show-stopping JAY-Z verse that redefined what it meant to rap at a high level well after an artist’s peak.
Hip Hop has long been criticised for the lack of lyricism in the genre’s melodically inclined music, but this trio showed that the spirit of barring up is still very much alive and well in 2022.
